Last Friday my AmeriCorps team served with Habitat for Humanity site just 10 minutes from my apartment. It was a day filled with atypical Habitat tasks. We moved dirt, shoveled gravel, hauled large wood paneling and cleaned up the work site. Though our work did not directly create the houses being built, we people power supported this.
Needless to say, my body was hurting Friday evening, Saturday and well, Sunday too.
Here are some pictures of our team hard at work :)
we all had to wear hardhats, it made me feel pretty official :) |
see all that hard work we did? oh, you don't. well, first we removed the soft mulch, then we shoveled and spread gravel creating a beautiful parking lot. |
this broken down piece of machinery was the reason the people power was needed to do all that moving of gravel |
after 12 people worked together, we finally moved this beast onto the trailer to get it fixed |
We had a great time, but our bodies sure did feel it afterwards!
Happy Monday!
