happy birthday, sweet friend Megan!

Today is the birthday of one of my very best friends in the whole wide world.  Megan is a big ol' 23! I met Megan my first few days at Gettysburg College. She lived just a few doors down freshman year, and after inviting me home to her parents' place for Fall Break I knew we would be best friends. Sophomore year, Junior year (while we were at Gettysburg) and Senior year we were roomies, and let's just say, if she wasn't married and living in Baltimore, I'd love to still be roommates :)

I am so thankful for Megan. In so many ways.

She is one of those sweet, kind, thoughtful and quiet souls that is so good at loving those around her. She is also spunky and so much fun. Some of my favorite memories with Megan are dancing, long talks over coffee, mini bible studies, and well, just about everything ;) We weren't every very good at studying together though... it seemed that talking always would take precedence.

Enjoy this flash back of our friendship!

Sooo many good pictures, I just chose some of my all time favorites--which inevitably mean there are some embarassing ones in there, but let me promise you... I have more embarassing ones that I am NOT sharing ;)

Happy Birthday, Meg! I love you!

Thankful Thursday: little things that make me smile :)

Hi there sweet friends,

It's my first Thankful Thursday post in quite some time! Today, I'm going to share some little sweet somethings from around my neighborhood that make me smile.

This sweet sign made by my WONDERFUL roommate Sarena, welcomed me home on my first day in my apartment.

A couple blocks from my apartment is Love Lane. Can you think of a sweeter street name than that? Just thinking about it makes me smile :)

Discovering the laundromat just two blocks from my apartment made my day--no joke!

This monthly MetroCard gives me unlimited access to the subway system and boy, let me tell you, it's such a relief to not have to worry about how much money is left on my card and trying to calculate how many trips I think that I'll do in the next week. I love this baby!

And of course, my decorated "wall" in my cubical makes me smile every time I see it (sorry for the blurry picture--I felt a bit awkward taking a picture of desk at work, so didn't go for a better one ;) )

Soo.. what do you think? Do you have those little things that just make life that much sweeter that make you smile too? Bet you do :)

Happy almost Friday, friends!

Thankful Thursday: 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus

When words seem few and far between and I can't seem to wrap my mind around all that is going on, this hymn often sings sweetly to my soul. Today, on my Thankful Thursday post, I am thankful to be able to trust in Jesus and pray for grace to trust Him more. Happy Thursday, friends.

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.

    Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,
    How I've proved Him o'er and o'er,
    Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!
    O for grace to trust Him more.

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
Just in simple faith to plunge me,
'Neath the healing, cleansing flood.

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life, and rest, and joy, and peace.

I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

love,
Kate

Thankful Thursday: freshman year

Hi Everyone!
I thought I'd do Thankful Thursday a bit different this week, with a photo flashback to a wonderful phase of my life.
My freshman year at Gettysburg College was WONDERFUL! I made some really great friendships with people I now call my very best friends, I grew enormously in my relationship with Jesus, I found out more of who I could be outside of the confines of high school, and I just really came into myself. Needless to say, I am so thankful for how I grew during my first year of college, and how the people and experiences shaped my life (and continue to do so).

Here are some photos that document the journey. I hope you laugh and enjoy :)

Happy reminiscing!
